Hi all, having read through lots of posts and instructional messages and looking at the yellow panel nabilo files that are available I realise that I am under using my DB receivers. In other words I think they could be doing a lot more than they currently are.
Is there a tutorial that explains such things as CAMS, keyfiles, uploading and downloading files, streaming, recording paths etc. Just reading through the available items on the nabilo download section (my boxes are connected to the net) is mind boggling. I predict any replies will say "be more specific" however some general directions would be a good helpful start.
eg Why so many softcams, what do they do? I have Mgcam, Gbox and CCcam loaded but only Mgc seems to work with opening channels and the list is endless, some with cfg files, some without etc etc?

There is a danger that you can install too many plugins etc and impair the usage of the box, due to memory and available space on the dreambox.

You did not mention what models you have but the dm500 and 7000 have the least memory.

I would recommend
Cams/emus = CCccam & Mgcam, the keys can be downloaded from the dreambox keys section here which are always kept up to date and ftp to the /var/keys dir on your boxes.

Streaming is pretty straight forward to a pc, using the dreambox web interface, type in the ip of your dreambox into a web browser select a channel and click on web xtv and it should begin to stream, you can alos install vlc on your pc and use that for streaming.

NGrab can be used to record to a hard drive on the pc.

The dreambox is mostly used for card sharing, whereby you become part of a group with your card know as a local card being part of a card share allowing you when connected to open nearly every channel being broadcast on every satellite.

Pawnee, yes I have suffered from excessive loadings and loss of memory before and when re-imaging have tried to keep plug-ins to a minimum hence the question on what is best to use and what is not really necessary. I suppose it is down to what I want the box to do.
I will try the streaming, I have vlc on my computer and can link DB to pc via LAN cat5 and 4 port router.

Thx again
