The receiver is connected to a broadband router using a single network ethernet cable (RJ45 type) or by using homeplugs if the receiver is a distance away from the router (in another room). One of the homeplugs (come as a pair) is connected to the receiver by a short network cable (x2 off usually supplied with homeplugs) and then plugged into a 240v mains socket near the receiver. The other homeplug is connected to router by the 2nd small network cable and plugged into a 240v socket near the router. When the router and receiver is turned on, the homeplugs allow the receiver and the router to "speak" to each other by assigning an IP address. This is usually done automatically. Thats it!

Another option is the "network bridge", this dongle sized adaptor gets it's power from either a USB port or power supply. It both sends and recieves wirelessly to a wireless router and then communicates with the Spiderbox via a RJ45 network cable.
