distance comunication with my dreambox

please any one have an idea how i will see my dream box from another town and put inside keys and new software?
which program to use for it?
a common ftp program?
or somethingelse?

This is very simple but not advisable.
I use cuteftp to connect from a remote connection but to ftp mean you will have to open up port 21 in your router, you will also need a fixed ip or a dns address to redirect to [ just google no ip or dyndns]. This is all you need to ftp, as for software update from a remote location I have to be honest and say I have never tried but in theory it is possible maybe with FW6.3 again you will need to open up ports in your router.
