Hi, I have an Eagle box and have flashed and loaded CCcam 2.0.11. I have the box connected at the moment straight to my HomeHub and can view the IP address through the network. I can get to my CCcam.cfg file but this is where I start to get confused as to what I do next with C lines etc. I have read many of the guides but the penny has not dropped yet. I have read that you need to get a domain (dnydns or No-IP) but have no idea as to why I need this or at least what I need to have?

Is it as simple as asking for a C line and adding into my CCcam.cfg and this will allow me to watch extra channels? Currently, I have nothing to share as I have waited to see if I could understand the process first before getting a card to share.

Hope this make sense and hope that someone can guide me, I am a bit of a novice on IP etc. Thanks

Ok I will try in plain English

You need a dnydns or No-IP because your external ip changes from time to time, maybe 3 or 4 times a day depending on your ISP.

What this offers is a way to make your external ip static, it is an alias ip address that checks your local ip and maps it to the external ip after ever change.

You want to share with A another you need to exchange C lines

This is how this works

You make a cline for your side of the share and send it to the other side for inclusion in his config , example
C: your.dnydns or No-IP.com 12000 aanother password no { 0:0:2 }

so here is what it means
C: (the dns that you set p) (port number to use your choice default 12000) (user you are sharing with) (password you give to this user, don't use the word password for this) no { 0:0:2 } the last bit you need to read up on as it will take a bit of explaining but if you leave it as this you won't be wrong.

so the next this you need to do is set an F line in your config with the username and passwor you supplied in the C line you sent, example

F: aanother password 2 0 0 { 0:0:2}

You sharing partner will send you a cline you put this into your config, he will have set an F line for you on his config.

then the share is set up.

This should really be in the sharing section, but i will leave it here for now

Pawnee, thanks for the info. I have a couple of more questions

1. On the No IP site, I have created an account, do I now create a domain name (e.g. w*w.xxxxxx.com) and if so is it correct that I need to pay for this or is there a free option?

2. On your reply you state "password you give to this user, don't use the word password for this" - How many numbers does the number password need to be?

3. On the F line on my confirg you mention my username, would this be as simple as "emkwrx" for example?

4. Is it a must that I have a card to share? I currently don't have one, will this mean that no one will card share? (I do plan to get something when I know how things work).

Sorry for the basic questions but need to get it clear.

1. no you just create an alias for your self, ther is no fee for this

2. use anything example: provider541 (use a mixture of letters & numbers)

3. The user name on the F line is the password you gave the guy you share with in the c line you provided him with, in the example above provider541, user and password have to match the ones in the c lines you give out, a different one for each share.

4. Hard to get a share with nothing to share yourself

I have created a host/redirect which I think is correct, however this was on my laptop IP (which showed as different on the No Ip site to the one on my config of my pc). Do I need to find the equivalent IP address of my eagle box and create a host/redirect for this? If so, how do I find the equivalent IP address e.g. 192 vs 86.

Also, I have heard of free CCcam server,does this allow me to get started in the process?

Thanks again for your help so far, it is becoming clearer.

it is your external ip that is the one linked to the alias, the internal ips are ok and not necessary to the process.

don't know about free servers, but good luck

New to this, so have a lot of learning to do. Maybe it is too good to be true of free servers on the many other forums, any advice on which package I should look at to allow me to have something to share?

Linux is very hard to get your head round but will keep plugging away. cheers
