Is there any chance you can attach a few pics of the motherboard and back panel.

wow never seen one like that before, it is definitely not an eagle or standard dreambox clone.

There appears only to be a 4 pin header for serial connection, normally this is an 8 pin connection, I have not seen a 4 pin connection since the 486sc pc days, so i would imagine it will be hard to connect an rs232 port.

Did you try flashwizard to flash the box? or does the lan connection fail using that too?

Hi,
You are right the Lan seems get connected but doesnt pick u an iP
so DCC Flashwizards dont talk to the BoX
The only way i see that if we can figure out How t connect 4 pins to RS232
When the box starts it does show DREAMBOX LOGo

Thaks

This may or may not be of use to you so it is worth a try.

First make sure your receiver is connected to your router, now kill the power, hold in the only button on the front of the receiver, and power it on

after about 20 seconds, youll notice the red.green lights are going wierd, this is an actual code that ill explain in a mo, but you can now let go of the button

your receiver has now gone into ###STOP### mode, has been issued an IP and is waiting to be flashed, now watch the lights, have a pen if you need one, and wait for the red and green to be on together

the green light will flash once, then a quick red flash, 9 greens, one red, 2 green, 1 red, 1 green, 1 red, 6 green, 1 red, 8 green, 1 red, (can anyone see where this is going yet ;))

the receiver has just flashed you some numbers, with a red flash as a marker between them, and its just told you the start of an IP address, 192 168

a long red flash is a zero, so my box now flashed one long red, another long red, 1 green, 1 quick red, one long red, 1 green, i fast red and 2 green

now the red and green come on together, and it starts over again

its just flashed out

192168001012 which translates to the IP 192.168.1.12

and typing this into a firefox window brings up the firmware upgrade screen, where you browse to the image, and 90 seconds later its on the receivertnx to DD for the method above.

If You need to connect with a null modem, the connections should be like this:

Box/Ground<----------------->Pin5/PC
Box/Tx<----------------------->Pin2/PC
Box/Rx<----------------------->Pin3/PC

You are aware it's a cable receiver?

You are aware it's a cable receiver?

I also see ealry that is DM-C,not DM500s,make me little confusion about this discussion.

I had seen that but the connection to Flashwizard etc is still the same for SAt/Cable/Terrestrial

The box is a DreamBox 500 C (Cable Receiver) - not to be confused with the DM500 S
